Welcome to Alano Club East
We are a 501(c)(3) Not for Profit Michigan Corporation based in Lansing, Michigan. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing place for those affected by the disease of addiction to attend 12 Step meetings.
We have been operating in this same location since 1987, serving over 700 people each week, year in and year out. Since the doors have opened, we have served over one million people in this community. When one considers the families that have been given back a son or a daughter, mother or a father, sister or a brother, we have positively impacted millions of people by providing a safe and nurturing place for people facing the challenge of addiction, to change their lives. The people that we serve, in many cases, have given up on themselves and of the possibility of restoring their lives. We provide hope through the example of our own lives and through the 12 Steps.
We have meetings from 8 AM until 10 PM most days and on holidays, when family is most important, we are family. We stay open 24 hours a day on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years, staffed by volunteers who offer a warm welcome and a kind word at a time when people in crisis are most vulnerable.
We are self funded, there are no dues or fess associated with the services that we provide. We operate on the revenue generated through room rent from AA groups and the sale of coffee and snack items. We have been operating our club since 1987, in the same facility with little if any building maintenance investment. Therefore, we must find creative ways to raise money to make building improvements, while not reducing our hours of operation or without reducing our event schedule. So we chose to operate as a social enterprise, raising money through events, encouraging those we serve to purchase annual memberships and by operating a fireworks tent each summer to benefit our building maintenance fund.
